Pharyngeal cancer can be treated with three standard cancer treatments:
• radiation therapy;
• chemotherapy;
• surgical intervention.
Often, treatment can combine several types of therapy: for example, radiation therapy with surgery. Moreover, the tumor can be irradiated both before and after the operation, or in both of these periods. This combination is used to improve the effectiveness of treatment.
